Community guidelines
KandiCon is full of people making and trading kandi, and a lot of them are young. These are the rules everyone agrees to when they post, comment or send a message, in the app and on the web.
PLUR
Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. It comes from the rave scene, and it is the reason kandi gets traded at all. On KandiCon it means being kind in the comments, welcoming people who are new to beading, and crediting the pattern you started from.
What is not allowed
- Bullying, harassing or threatening anyone, or joining in when someone else does. "It was a joke" does not make it okay.
- Anything sexual, and anything that sexualizes a child. That gets an account removed with no warning. Our child safety standards cover it in full.
- Hate aimed at someone because of who they are.
- Gore, violence, or threats to hurt someone.
- Anything that encourages, describes or jokes about self-harm, suicide or eating disorders. That includes "challenges".
- Personal details, yours or anyone else's: home address, school, phone number, last name, or accounts on other apps.
- Asking a young maker for photos, personal details, or to talk on a different app.
- Pretending to be someone else, or posting someone else's work as your own.
- Spam, scams, ads, or selling things through posts and messages.
If you are struggling
Sometimes someone posts that they want to hurt themselves or that they do not want to be alive. If that is you, we are glad you said something, and we want you to get real help. This is what happens next:
- We take the post, comment or message down. A lot of the people here are kids, and a post like that can hit them hard.
- You are not in trouble. It is not a strike against you and your account is not banned.
- Someone from the KandiCon team sends you a private message to check in on you.
- We may pause your posting for about a day. You can still browse and like the whole time, and posting turns back on by itself.
We are a small team that makes a bead app, so please talk to a parent or another adult you trust as well. They can help in ways we cannot. In the US you can call or text 988 any time. The Get help page has more numbers, including for outside the US.
Worried about someone?
If a post, comment or message makes you think someone might hurt themselves:
- Tap Report on it and choose I鈥檓 worried about this person. It is the first choice on the list. You can add a note, but you do not have to. A person on our team reads every report. (If your app does not show that choice yet, pick Something else and write that you are worried about them.)
- Tell an adult you trust what you saw. If you think they are in danger right now, call 911 or get an adult to call.
- If you want to, send them something kind. "I saw your post and I care about you" is enough. You do not have to fix anything.
Reporting a friend's post will not get them in trouble. It tells us to check on them. If they ask you to keep it a secret, tell a trusted adult anyway.
What happens when the rules are broken
Reports are read by a person. Automated checks also flag the most serious things, like grooming, sexual content involving kids and posts about self-harm, so we see them quickly. Depending on what happened, we can:
- hide the post, comment, pattern or message
- pause someone's posting for a while, usually a day
- suspend or remove the account
Anything that puts a child's safety at risk gets the account removed straight away, and we report it to NCMEC and the police where the law requires it. If you think we got something wrong, email alexander@uniquephoto.com and we will look again.
Blocking and hiding
You can block anyone from their profile or from a chat. They can no longer message you, and their posts stop showing up for you. You can also hide any post or comment you would rather not see. Neither one tells the other person.
